2011 Manfred Guttmacher Award
At the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association, PRMS honored the 2011 winners of the Guttmacher Award, Liza Gold, MD and Daniel Shuman, JD, for Evaluating Mental Health Disability in the Workplace: Model, Process, and Analysis (Springer 2009). Donna Vanderpool, MBA, JD, the Vice President of Risk Management at PRMS, later joined Dr. Gold in presenting a sold-out course, "Can't Work or Won't Work: Psychiatric Disability Evaluations." In the course, Ms. Vanderpool spoke about liability issues related to psychiatric disability evaluations.
Each year the Manfred S. Guttmacher Award honors exceptional work in the literature of forensic psychiatry. Recipients are presented with the award during the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting, when they also present the award lecture. The Guttmacher Award is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law since 1982 and supported by a grant from Professional Risk Management Services, Inc., manager of The Psychiatrists' Program.
